Breakfast at iCi
While Fort Greene, Brooklyn has become somewhat of a destination for foodies, the area has maintained its local flavor. For neighborhood bistro iCi, “local” is more than a feel, it’s a guiding principle. Without using it as a gimmick, or even mentioning it on their menu, iCi has always inherently relied on ingredients that are local, organic, and seasonal, simply because those things mean better food. This philosophy is reflected in the restaurant’s name itself—”here,” in French.
New York magazine has just featured iCi as having one of the 20 best breakfasts in the city, zeroing in on its local focus. The profile highlights iCi’s cheesy shirred eggs with bacon and local greens and the fact that its “locavore breakfast” is served until “a very civilized 4 p.m.”
We designed the identity for iCi when it first opened a few years ago, using the letters of the name to evoke a place setting. It’s still a favorite; don’t forget they have dinner, too.
