Chanel, Good as Gold
The former Paris apartment of Coco Chanel at 31, rue Cambon has frequently served as inspiration for the renowned fashion house’s activities and products. Vanessa Paradis whistling in a bird cage? A miniature version of the cage is in the apartment. Keira Knightley glancing in a mirror? A wall of mirrors lined Mlle Chanel’s staircase.
Peter Phillips, the recently appointed global creative director for Chanel Makeup, decided to draw inspiration from the apartment for the house’s new makeup line, Facettes d’Or. As the name implies, the collection, the first by Phillips, is full of rich gold tones.
We worked with Chanel on a deluxe press package to launch the line. The kaleidoscopic imagery of the products was shot on location in Mlle Chanel’s office. The booklet features golden accents that reference the luxurious furnishings of the office.
