Lancôme Goes to the Beach
This past June, Lancôme hired Aaron de Mey as its creative director of makeup. An internationally renowned makeup artist, de Mey has worked with the fashion world’s top talent including Bruce Weber, Mario Sorrenti, and Inez Van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin. For his first project for Lancôme, de Mey drew upon his New Zealand roots to create his first two new product lines, Piha Red and Piha Black.
Named for beaches in New Zealand, Piha Black (a black gloss) and Piha Red (a lipstick) will be available in September.
To launch the products, we worked with Lancôme to create a deluxe press package that references de May’s own persona: a mix of artist, rock & roll chic, and surfer.
The booklet is part sketchbook and part photo collage, containing handwritten passages and images from de Mey’s own sketchbook.
For more information, see the de Mey profile in French Vogue and his recent interview on Vimeo.
