Ch.ACO, Chile’s First-Ever Contemporary Art Fair
Ch.ACO, the first-ever contemporary art fair of Chile starts today! We at Base Santiago had the privilege of designing the website and the catalog for the fair.
The fair takes place at an airfield for gliders, with artwork displayed among hangars, temporary tents and on the field itself. The fair’s objective is to promote Chilean art both locally and globally. For Ch.ACO’s inaugural flight, 26 galleries participating (19 Chilean, 7 international including 713 (Argentina), Bendana Pinel (France), Nueveochenta, Animal, Cecilia Palma, AFA, A.M.S. Marlborough, Artespacio, Sextante (Colombia) and Sicart (Spain), 9 art-related institutions and 3 universities have confirmed their participation. Artists include Alfredo Jaar, Roberto Matta, Samy Benmayor, Cristóbal Anwandter, Luis Mandiola, Cristóbal Palma, Martin Parr, Jorge Tacla, Gonzalo Cienfuegos, Patrick Steeger, Nemesio Antunez, Andres Vio, Bororo, Matilde Pérez, Margarita Dittborn, Mario Navarro, Pablo Serra, Carlos Navarrete, Arturo Duclos, Ivan Navarro, Nicola Costantino, Muu Blanco, Roger Guaus to name but a few.
Our design concept for the website and the catalog relates to the way one experiences the fair itself. Upon entering the airfield, one sees the fair as a whole. Once inside however, the various booths and exhibition sites are often obstructed, offering only hints of the work. The menu of the website functions in much the same way, offering a glimpse at the various sections of the fair, but upon scroll-over, revealing a wide range of information.
Ch.ACO runs from October 2nd-6th. For further information, visit the website at feriachaco.cl.
Stay tuned! We will post the catalog very soon.
