Jeff Koons Hulk Elvis Book Signing At The Gagosian Shop

Jeff Koons was at the newish Gagosian Shop on Dec.17th, signing copies of his new book, Hulk Elvis. While Hulk Elvis is new, the work in it is from Koons’s summer 2007 show of the same name, at Gagosian’s London gallery.

We designed the “Hulk Elvis” book as well as the other materials surrounding the exhibition—poster, invitations, and print ads.

Based on the layers in Koons’s work, we created a square text block to convey relevant information—name of the artist, title of the show, date and location. This information is set as knock-out text, and positioned over the artwork to reveal glimpses of the paintings underneath. The 138-page book is published by Gagosian Gallery and distributed by Rizzoli.

We’ve also designed the catalog and all related materials Koons’s “New Paintings” show, which is up now at the Gagosian Beverly Hills through January 9, 2010.
