Real rock bands don’t go on stage in worn-out jeans and leather accessories; real rock bands do it in tailor-made suits. Because a neat suit… That’s what we call rock ‘n’ roll. Soulwax, Nick Cave, and the Beatles, they’ve all packaged their beats, growls, and sweet sounds in stylish suits. Visual artists, too, swear by the suit. Take Belgian painter Michaël Borremans - he never paints in anything other than a suit. Form him, a suit brings with it a mental state of being, a trance necessary to produce wonderful paintings. For men, the suit is the equivalent of the little black dress, the one thing every man should own.

Eva Jeanbart-Lorenzotti

Today the catalog has moved online and Eva herself has become a respected, international arbiter of style. We sat down with Eva to discuss fashion, her personal style, and what it takes to run a luxury company in today’s competitive environment.

Today is a promising day for the Brussels fashion scene. Because from now on, the organization Modo Bruxellae will stride its way through life as Modo Brussels. A change of only a few letters, but behind it lies a whole new functioning and strategy to support Brussels fashion, developed under the guidance of artistic director Didier Vervaeren.

It’s spring and Laura Blokhina is in the mood. (Photography: Daniel Jackson)

We shot again this season with renowned fashion photographer Daniel Jackson, who’s been behind the images for women’secret’s last few seasons. It’s ultra. It’s mega. It’s Hannelore.
It’s UltraMegaLore, an exhibition retrospective celebrating the life and career of Belgian supermodel Hannelore Knuts. We’ve designed all communications materials for UltraMegaLore, including posters, invitations, banners, and the book-catalogue. … more

Graanmarkt 13, a new and unique retail store in Antwerp, opened Saturday. Located in a residential building and neighborhood on the city’s tree-lined market square, Graanmarkt 13 is a store conceived as a home. In fact, it is a home. Proprietors Ilse Cornelissens and Tim Van Geloven live on the top floor of this stately, renovated row house. The first three floors comprise the store—a fully furnished “private” home open to the public, where everything—from furniture to decorations to clothing—is for sale. … more
Jenny Gage & Tom Betterton
Like Reese’s peanut butter cups, Jenny Gage & Tom Betterton are the two great tastes that taste great together. Enlisting this photography team’s services throughout the years for Base clients such as Loewe and Kiki de Montparnasse, we’ve had the chance to witness their unique working process. Tom & Jenny took a few moments to answer some questions from Base partner Geoff Cook, revealing that their thoughts on photography are as rich and refreshing as their work itself. … more
